Abstract

The contents of ash and potassium, sodium, copper, iron, zinc, lead and cadmium of cuban polyfloral bee honey were analyzed and also the influence of flowering season and production year on researched indicators. All lots of the product processed in the two UEBs in the country, Santi Spíritus and Contramaestre, between 2015 and 2017 were studied. Ashes and minerals studied were quantified by gravimetry and Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry with flame, respectively. The contents of ashes and of different minerals behaved according to those reported for the product and there was not definite trend by influence of flowering season year production. Potassium and sodium were the main elements. Potassium showed significant differences (p<0.05), due to researched variables. Lead and cadmium contents were always much lower than those established allowed for food in Cuba.
