Abstract

Alterations in nutritional status cover several situations that have been increasing, representing a serious challenge for health systems. In order to evaluate the nutritional status and risk of abdominal adiposity in a labor environment, a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out on 88 workers using stratified sampling by work direction and age groups. Nutritional evaluation was carried out using the values of the Body Mass Index and risk of abdominal adiposity using waist circumference values. Nutritional status was characterized; the 52 % of the participants in the study possess high prevalence of malnutrition, with predominance of greater affectation for excess in the 43,1 % of women and the 39,7 % presented increased or very increased abdominal adiposity risk, that leads to the establishment of chronic diseases that increase cardiometabolic risk.
